Different from the glass sculptures suffering from

lack of effective lightings in Yokohama Mortuary or

Tokyo Theater Arts, the commissioned work,

‘From the Sea to the Sky’ is happy enough to be

installed in the sunshiny  hall of  Narimasu Civic Center.

Here again, I interlaminated high-transmission glass

and ordinal sheet glass for the center part of the work.

Thanks for the bright sunlight coming from its back

and artficial light coming from underneath,  a halogen

light set in the base,  the two kind of sheet glass

show you various colors of optical fantasy. 

斎場や劇場に設置した作品は照明がうまく機能せず、

現場で見る作品の姿が写真のそれとは異なる

悪しき例だったが、上掲の作品は天気のよい日には

自然光がたっぷりの、公共建築としては小さな

ホールに置かれ、背後から来る光の恩恵を

享受している。作品の中央部は高透過硝子と

通常の窓硝子を交互に重ねただけだが、

中央下部の華やかな色階とその上に拡がる

（写真では黒くみえる）部分では、覗き込むと

黄緑色の細い光線が無限の彼方へ続いている。

台座の中に仕込まれた照明が作りだす光学現象だ。

下からの光を受ける小口＝切断面の角度により

色の現れ方が全く異なるのだが、光と形態の

関係があやつる魔術の不思議さは

私の想像をはるかに超える。
