‘At a House in Sunshine Filtering through Foliage’

wouldn’t be always wrong,  I suppose,  because

the old house surrounded by large trees in

the woods is one of the major subjects of

the story.  The taste of monochrome well

projects the tranquility of  deep woods.

High pitched voices of  cheerful children or

sounds of trumpet played by the youngstars in

the music club nearby sometimes enlived

the silent life of the old heroine.

In such a natural circumstances,  she lived out

her days by finding successfully a way to

preserve her house and its surroundings.

とは言え、「木洩れ日の家で」と改題した

着眼点も決して悪くはない。ポーランドの大地、

その一隅のこんもりとした木々に囲まれた

古い家そのものも重要な主題であるのだから。

落ち着いたモノクロー厶の味わいが深い森の

静寂を伝え、時折聞こえてくる子供たちの

明るい声が木洩れ日に似た光をちりばめる。

足音と共に響く床板の軋む音が土の匂いや

樹の香りまでも運んできそうな・・・しかし、

表情豊かな老女と賢い犬との暮らしを通して、

都市化に進む時代の明暗と一人の人間の

末期にまつわる重い問題を、

声高に自らを主張することなく

あくまでも静かに、だが、明るくコミカルに

描いききった監督の眼差しには、

詩的叙情性や感傷に逃げ込む甘さはなかった。
