Talking about myself, I’ve not always believed

so-called ‘myth of security’ of nuclear power plant

proclaimed by the government and the associated

companies from the begining and still today

in order to advance the widespread of use,

I’ve supposed they would have taken more efforts

to enhance safety of the plants, at the same time,

would well prepare for possible accidents, 

because we all know about the serious accidents

occured at Chernobyl and Three Mile Island.

Amazingly enough,  however,  they have done

nothing for improving security nor contingency plans in

fear of disillusionment with the ‘myth of security’ that

should be perfect.

終わり近くの印象深いシーン、建設後に

使用中止が決まり遊園地になった施設の、

排気口の穴の上を廻る空中ブランコ。

その面白うてやがて悲しき映像にブリューゲルの絵

「バベルの塔」に描かれた小さき人々の姿を

思いうかべた。私自身を問えば、「安全神話」を

そのまま信じていたわけではなかったが、

スリーマイル島やチェルノブイリなどの実例に学び、

より以上に安全性を高める研究努力、最悪の事態に

備える対策ぐらいは出来ているのだろうと

想像していた。だが、そのいずれでもなかった。

理由は、そのような事故ヘの備えや新たに

安全対策を強化すれば衆目の前で自ら

「安全神話」を崩すことなると怖れたから、だという。

何をか言わんや、である。
