Decided to cut corners on total housecleaning,

one of the annual tasks at the end of a year,

I took time to enjoy swimming in the public pool.

As was to be expected,  there was no swimmer

but two lifeguards.  Under the bright sunshine of

the late afternoon,  the three primary colors

arranged radially on the wall were vividly

reflected on full of the smooth water-surface.

The water kept waiting quietly for me to move, 

although I’m used to swim usually against

small swells of water rushing me from

all directions in the pool. I felt fine to get

the water all to myself.  I wonder the pair of

birds may enjoy getting the air all to themselves,

while flying around.

大掃除の手抜きをして、泳ぎ終いのプールへ。

さすがに、家の中でも走りまわっているような

この時期に泳ぐ酔狂なヒマ人はいないらしく、

監視員以外だれもいない。放射状に塗りわけられた

側壁の三原色が遅い午後の陽差しを受け

水面一杯に映え、鮮やかな水紋を描いて美しい。

常なら、四方八方から押し寄せる飛沫と水の小さな

うねりに抗って手足を動かすのだが、静かに佇む

長方形の水はじいっと私が動くのを待っている。

プールサイドでまず目にした三原色を浮べた水面、

それを独りじめする快感、いずれも新鮮だった。

鳥が飛んでいる。つがいだろうか。

何をはなしているのか、この広い空にいるのは

僕たち二羽だけ、爽快だね、とでも？。
