The image of the pond with wooden boat of
old style floating on, posted as a greeting,
seemed to make the pond looked guite different
from the usual atmosphere. Even someones
living by the pond asked me where I’d taken
the photograph of the greeting or what the boat was.
They haven’t seen such a boat on the pond yet.
That is a sort of dredger of small scale that
I happened to see only a few times during
the half century I’ve lived here.
浚渫船といえば、モーターで作動するポンプなど
大きな機器を備え、掘り採った泥の運搬も可能な
船を想像してしまうが、先の賀状に登場した
素朴な船も水底を浚う作業に用いられるのだから、
やはり浚渫船と呼んでよいのだろう。
見慣れぬ一物が加わると常の雰囲気が一変する。
池を我が庭にしている近隣の住人達ですら、
「これ、どこですか？」「この船、何ですか？」
などと訊く。半世紀以上もこの地に住みながら、
私も三回ぐらいしか見た記憶がない。
昨年三月九日、通りすがりに見かけた時、
なぜかすぐに印象派絵画に描かれた倖せな
水辺の光景が思い浮び、その柔らかな筆致が
謳い上げる豊かな色彩に促されるように、
心も軽くシャッターをきったのだった。
