I seldom go out for the purpose of taking photographs

but usually only record with  my camera  what

I happen to find attractive as I walk.

Therefore,  it was rather a rare case that I often

went  to the pond  in order to take photos of birds

around it for the first week of this year,  because I’d

enjoyed watching many various birds enlived

the scenery and made the pond looked more

picturesque during the last New Years’holidays.

Neverthless,  to my regret,  I couldn’t meet birds

this year as many as last year.

I couldn’t find the birds this year which

you see in the photo,  upped above,

taken on January 7th, last year. 

写真を撮るために出かけていくことはめったにない。

ほとんどが通りすがりに偶然の出会いを

記録するだけだが、今年の始め例外的に

撮影目的でたびたび池に向った。昨年の正月多様な

鳥で池が賑わっていたので、その再現を

期待してのことだったが、そのようなときに限り、

鳥の種類も数も少ない。昨年一月七日撮影の

上掲の画像に見る鳥が今年はあまり見当たらない。

鴎に似ているけれど、この鳥の名は？

残念ながら、鳥に関してはほとんど無知。

池の端に立つ看板には、

《一年中いるのが「かいつぶり」、

冬季に飛来するのが「はしびろかも」》とあるが、

この鳥とは明らかに違う。図鑑で調べたが、

雄雌で姿が大幅に異なる種も多く、

ますますわからなくなった。
